Good Day

Yesterday, Aiden went for his second round of “gymnastics” at the local gym. There was lots of running, jumping, and tumbling. At the end, every kid gets a stamp on their hand. Aiden doesn’t like his hands getting dirty, so he insisted on taking the stamp on paper instead.

For dinner, we all went out for Grandpa Ron’s birthday. Aiden did very well at the restaurant, staying in his chair the entire meal!

Happy Father’s Day

Aiden wished Daddy a happy fathers day over the weekend, getting him a fancy espresso kit to go with the new espresso machine. It came in handy when the whole family was over–everyone enjoyed the drinks.

Thanks, Aiden!

Artist

Aiden drew this masterpiece on Daddy’s iPhone:

Tool Man

We take an empty diaper box, one end open, and let Isis (the cat) play in it.  Aiden comes along, and starts poking in the box, tormenting the cat.  It doesn’t last long–I think Aiden just lost interest in it.

No.  He comes back 30 seconds later, having taken an egg whisk from the kitchen, and starts trying to extract Isis from the box.  He decided that tools would help.

Healthy

Aiden is feeling a lot better now–since Thursday, actually.  He hasn’t had a fever since Wednesday evening.

He was quite cranky all weekend, however, which we’re chalking up to him still recovering from his illness.  He’s been very “fragile” lately, and wants to be held a lot.  But at least he’s not sick!

Sick

Aiden has been sick for the last two days.  We took him in to the doctor today–turns out he has a little virus.  At least it’s not Strep.  His fever peaked at 101.7 yesterday, but he hasn’t had a fever at all today.  He’s feeling a lot better, and is actually eating and playing, so we hope he’ll feel better soon.

Sugar High

Yesterday, Aiden had a bit of Italian Creme Cake for desert around 6:30 PM.   “A bit” is being a bit conservative–he ate quite a lot, and had icing too.  Probably not the best idea an hour or so before sleepy time.

He was literally bouncing off the walls.  He would run around, run into the walls, bounce off, and run around in a different direction.  He spun around, played with his magnet-letters on the fridge, and once he got bored with those he started throwing them around.  It was pretty wild.

In the middle of it, he clearly wanted more sugar.  He grabbed the box of teddy-grahams, and when we refused and tried to give him wheat thins, he tried to get into the candy cabinet.  He grabbed the hershey kisses and wanted us to unwrap them.  What a monster.

Luckily, we seem to have timed it pretty well.  His sugar crash coincided with his sleepy time, around 8:00 PM.  He was a bit excited when we first got to his bedroom, but he quickly calmed down, and didn’t even cry when we left him.  He slept through the night, until about 7:30 AM.

Accident

Aiden injured Daddy yesterday.  We were playing around on the floor, having a good ole’ time wrestling around.  Aiden grabbed his dinosaur (which, in his defense, is for ages 3+).  He was shaking it and waving it around, making the “roar” sound, when he swung it and hit me in the face.

Right in the eyebrow.   Lots of blood.  An inch lower, and we’d be in the hospital for a missing eye.

I managed to quickly turn my grimace into a laugh, so Aiden didn’t get too confused.

Berry Delicious

We went to Huber’s Farm over the weekend to pick whatever happens to be in season. Turns out it’s black raspberries and blueberries. Aiden clearly loves them both.

Berry Face

I didn’t eat anything! I Promise!

He made a feast out of the black raspberries, and even figured out that you have to pick the dark ones. He liked the raspberries more than the blueberries, but he ate his fair share of those, too. We had to stop him a few times from eating what appeared to be perfectly good ones off the ground, but other than that, he did a great job of picking and eating.

Boo-boos

Aiden had an unlucky day on Monday.

First, he got tangled up in some kite string, and it gave him a very nasty cut/burn on the back of his ankles.  He has an amazingly high tolerance for pain, so it doesn’t seem to bother him, but it bothers ME just looking at it.  I really hope it doesn’t scar.

On a walk, he was running (Daddy was chasing him), and he fell forward on the sidewalk.  He caught himself with his hands, but he was going so fast that he nearly flipped completely over, and bumped his forehead on the sidewalk.  He has quite the scratch on his forehead on the left.  It has scabbed over.  I really hope it doesn’t scar.

Finally, we were outside playing around, and daddy was throwing a volleyball around, bouncing it off of the house.  It bounced right into Aiden’s face, knocking his pacifier out.  He didn’t cry much–I think it scared him more than it hurt.  But I feel unbelievably guilty about that.  At least THAT one won’t scar (him, physically–only me, emotionally.)

At least Tuesday was a much safer day.
