Hi Ho

Aiden wanted me to follow him downstairs to the basement yesterday. Down there, he was walking around and found a hammer.

He picked it up, held it over his shoulder, and started marching around saying “hi ho, hi ho”.

There was also a little bit of “construction”.

Clever boy!

Hug

This morning, as I was leaving for work, I went to give Aiden a kiss while he slept. Half-awake, he realized that I was leaving. He sat up, opened his arms wide, and said “hug?”

Melts your heart!

Choo choo

We’re putting Aiden to sleep last night, when we hear a train off in the distance. Tanya and I are used to it–it’s very faint and we rarely notice.

Aiden pops his head up, gets excited, and starts exclaiming “Choo choo! Choo choo!”

“Yes, it’s a choo choo. Let’s go to sleep.”

Play-doh

Aiden likes his play-doh. We made a fish and a shark.

Wakey Time

Daddy woke up early today. Aiden was still asleep upstairs in his room. I fed the cats and tried to squeeze a little work in before I had to leave.

Aiden rustled around upstairs and came down. The lights were off, and I closed the laptop thinking he would just go hop in bed with mommy. I was right.

…for 10 seconds. Aiden came back out of our bedroom looking for me, asking me to hop back into bed with him and mommy. I spent the next 15 minutes watching Aiden fall back to sleep around 6:20 in the morning.

There isn’t much that is cuter than a 2 year old falling asleep next to you in the morning.

Psych

Aiden likes Psych. He asks for it by…name…sort-of. And he’s quite happy when it is on TV.

Which works out well, since we like it too.

—– Update, 20 minutes later —–

Nevermind. The Ant Bully movie is better.

Specific taste

Aiden has very specific taste in food and music. And now that he’s talking, he makes sure that we know it.

For food, it’s all pancakes, all the time. It’s almost a game—we ask if he wants eggs, or oatmeal, or even a hot dog. “pa-kak”. He will even find the syrup for us in the rotating cabinet. That’s the most important part, after all.

Ever since we purchased an Apple TV, it has been used mainly to show cartoons. Lately, however, Aiden wants to hear music. And by “music”, I mean Baskov. Literally all day, the tenor voice of Николай Басков fills our house. Aiden asks for it by name, “ba-ka”, and will often sing along with certain songs.

Overheard

Overheard at our house:

“It’s okay, she still has one arm to fight with.”

(about a toy)

Yeah…Aiden will grow up juuuust fine. :)

Light Reading

Aiden taking in some light reading while enjoying a smoothie.

Singer

Aiden has been into singing lately. When we play certain songs that end with the artist holding the last note, Aiden also holds that note as an “aaahhhhhhhhhh”. It’s always the same set of songs, too.

And he likes it when Mommy and Daddy join in.
