Aiden loves to be held–not surprisingly he sleeps a lot better in someone’s arms. He prefers to sleep with his face covered by blankets and likes to have his burp cloth near him. At times while being held he concentrates his attention on random objects in the house (usually high contrast) and stares at them for a period of time.
Aiden got to spend some time with grandma Alla while mommy and daddy had their first “date” since his birth. We missed him a lot, even though we were gone for only 3 hours.
He smiles at mommy and daddy. He also likes diaper changing time, probably because he gets play time afterwards. He can hold up his head on his own. We have discovered that bouncing on the yoga ball seems to calm him down during his fussy fits (plus daddy gets to rack up points on his pedometer.) Aiden seems to like walks outside around the block and car rides–both activities seem to put him to sleep.
Real tears appeared for the first time at his 2 month doctors appointment during which Aiden received 4 immunizations (Pediarix(DTacP,IPV,HepB), Prevnar, Hib, RotaTeq). He cried a whole lot after a mean nurses jabbed 3 shots in his thighs. Afterwards mommy quickly calmed him down with some food. The experience was as stressful for mommy and daddy as it was for Aiden.
In the evening Grandma Alla and Grandpa Gena came over for a 2 month birthday visit.
Aiden likes to “crawl” with mommy’s and daddy’s help. After a while he gets pretty frustrated, especially if we stop helping him. He also likes to “stand” with our support and attempting to take steps.
During his time on the playland, he likes to hold his rattle after we place it in his hand and attempts to shake it. He loves to watch his mobile in the crib–mommy usually paces him under it during her workout time.
All of the activities are relatively early for his age.
Aiden arrived 10 days before his expected due date. After birth he was slightly jaundice, therefore during the first couple of days after the hospital release we had daily runs to the hospital lab to monitor bilirubin levels. After 4 days, the levels were “acceptable”.
